Accessibility Statement

Effective date: July 22, 2026

Our Commitment

Allen Halal Meat is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.

Conformance Standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Conformance with these guidelines also helps make web content more usable to users in general, including older users with changing abilities due to ageing.

Measures Taken

Allen Halal Meat takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Include accessibility as part of our development process and design reviews
  • Use semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy and landmark regions
  • Provide keyboard navigation support throughout the entire ordering flow (browse, configure, cart, checkout)
  • Implement ARIA labels, roles, and states for all interactive components
  • Maintain sufficient colour contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • Ensure responsive design functions correctly with browser zoom up to 200%
  • Associate form inputs with visible labels and provide clear error messaging
  • Provide visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • Ensure content is readable and functional without CSS or JavaScript where possible
  • Test with assistive technologies including screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA)

Compatibility

The Service is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (VoiceOver on macOS/iOS, NVDA and JAWS on Windows, TalkBack on Android)
  • Speech recognition software
  • Screen magnification tools
  • Alternative input devices (switch access, eye tracking)

The Service is not compatible with browsers older than 3 major versions or Internet Explorer 11, as these do not support modern accessibility APIs.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:

  • Third-party payment forms: The Stripe payment element is provided by a third party. While Stripe maintains its own accessibility programme, we cannot directly modify its components.
  • Map components: Google Maps autocomplete and embedded maps may have limited screen reader support.
  • User-uploaded images: Some menu item images uploaded by restaurant owners may lack descriptive alt text. We provide tools and guidance to add appropriate descriptions.

We are actively working to address these limitations and monitor our third-party providers for accessibility improvements.

Assessment & Remediation

We assess the accessibility of the Service through:

  • Automated testing using tools such as axe-core and Lighthouse
  • Manual keyboard navigation testing across all user flows
  • Screen reader testing on multiple platforms
  • Colour contrast analysis of all UI components

When accessibility issues are identified, we aim to remediate them within the following timeframes:

  • Critical issues (blocking access to core functionality): 7 business days
  • Major issues (significant barriers to usability): 30 business days
  • Minor issues (cosmetic or non-blocking): Next scheduled release
